Do you have scars from cancer, repetitive behaviors, or life transitions that just can't seem to heal on their own? Let's heal them together.

No machine or algorithm can understand what it's like to suffer in your mind, to be in your body, to ascend to the heights or plunge to the depths of your spirit. You deserve the warm, personalized care of real human counseling.

We all can be wounded healers—for ourselves, and for others.

Perhaps you've tried bandages or therapy with a non-specialist. ComB therapy, which emerged from Habit Reversal Therapy, is comprehensive and individualized to your patterns. Whether you struggle with trichotillomania (hair pulling), skin picking (excoriation disorder), nail biting, or other body focused repetitive behaviors, we'll build your motivation to change, analyze your typical episodes, and address any emotions you might carry such as shame. You'll graduate therapy with a personalized toolbox of strategies to manage your BFRB and keep yourself well.

Whether you identify with a specific religious tradition or rather are "spiritual-but-not-religious," I'll help you reclaim awe, hope, and trust. As a breast cancer survivor myself, I appreciate the unique psychological challenges you face. We can use EMDR to bring you relief from medical trauma. And we can use peer-reviewed research to address chemobrain, sexual side effects, scanxiety, and grief. I'll help you develop a more positive relationship with your changed body. You don't have to navigate this alone.

Whether you're healing from harmful religious experiences or seeking to integrate spirituality into your life in a healthier way, we'll take a whole-person approach to your wellbeing. I've trained in Spiritually-Integrated Psychotherapy, interfaith hospital chaplaincy, and integrative health. I've worked nationally and internationally for over twenty years in Christian, Jewish, and Muslim communities, many of them war-torn. These experiences allow me to meet you wherever you are on your spiritual journey—whether you identify with one or more specific traditions, or consider yourself "spiritual but not religious."

As a Jewish therapist with a PhD in Hebrew Literature, I understand the unique stressors facing Jews today—from navigating antisemitism and traumatic invalidation to wrestling with questions of identity, tradition, intermarriage, and belonging. I offer a safe and brave space for you to wrestle with your Jewish questions without fear, on your own terms. We won't stay stuck in lamentation, however: we'll also find joy, meaning, and creativity in Jewish wisdom and rituals for healing, in ways that feel right for you.

Major life transitions—menopause, caregiving for aging parents, career changes, empty nest, divorce, or retirement—can shake our sense of identity and purpose. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy takes a 6-point approach to help you be more present and less dominated by your worries. If you're struggling with decisions or guilt, I'll support you to face that head on while fostering your self-compassion and body awareness. Let's build a life that feels freer and aligned with what matters most to you.

Yes! If we are treating a mental health diagnosis or including a major focus on your past, psychotherapy is appropriate. I am licensed to provide psychotherapy in NC. If your struggles do not warrant a mental health diagnosis and our work will focus on active weekly goal-setting, then health coaching may be more fitting. I offer health coaching nationally and am training with Wellcoaches, a leading health coaching organization. When you contact me, we can clarify best options for you. My coaching fees similar to my therapy fees.

Trichotillomania is a compulsive hair pulling disorder and one of the body focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs). There are many theories about why some of us pull out our hair; these theories range from biology, addiction, learning, and genetics. Trichotillomania is not the same as OCD and is best treated by a specialist using approaches like ComB (Comprehensive Behavioral) therapy. Andrea Siegel, Ph.D., LCSW offers trichotillomania treatment in North Carolina, both in-person in Asheville and via telehealth.

Skin picking is more common than most people realize—you're not alone, even if it feels that way. When picking becomes compulsive, it may reach the level of excoriation disorder (also called dermatillomania), a body focused repetitive behavior (BFRB). People pick for many reasons, such as to self-soothe, to focus, or to "fix" perceived blemishes. Unfortunately, those who struggle with compulsive picking often suffer in silence for years, feeling dismissed or misunderstood by the medical system. As someone who has personal experience with BFRBs, Andrea Siegel, Ph.D., LCSW brings both specialized training and genuine compassion to skin picking treatment in North Carolina.

Breast cancer mental health is all too often ignored by our treatment teams. The risk may be especially high for patients on endocrine therapies or who had breast reconstruction surgery. Treatment can impact our brains and our hormones, our joints, our sleep, and also require us to face sudden "big questions" about mortality. A 2024 European study of 11,000 people with breast cancer, published in the peer-reviewed journal Cancers, found that almost 65% developed clinically-significant psychological distress. Andrea Siegel, Ph.D., LCSW has cultural competency in breast cancer mental health and offers treatment in North Carolina.

Yes, both, while recognizing that those terms mean different things to different people. My approach as a therapist is to meet you where you are and to honor your story.

Feeling rejected by the Divine, by others in your own faith community, or by people who look upon your religious/cultural identity as essentially "alien" can be extraordinarily disorienting. If you've experienced spiritual abuse, shame-based teachings, rejection due to identity, or loss of community, you might have developed trauma symptoms such as hypervigilance and negative core beliefs about self. These experiences can impact your your ability to trust in your relationships: with yourself, with others, with God. EMDR and Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy (SIP) treatment can help you process these experiences, rebuild your ability to trust, and create a healthy spirituality on your own terms. I work with clients from all faith backgrounds.
